How to use this list
Every EV in India falls into one of a few buying situations, and the right answer is rarely the one with the biggest number on the brochure.
City-only driving under 40 km a day. A 25–35 kWh battery is plenty. You will charge overnight from a normal 15A socket and almost never need a public charger, and you save several lakh over a bigger battery you will never use.
Mixed city and occasional highway. This is where most Indian buyers land. Look for 45–60 kWh and DC fast charging under 45 minutes.
Regular long-distance driving. Battery size matters less than charging speed. A car that adds 250 km in 25 minutes beats a car with 100 km more claimed range that takes an hour.
Family of five or more. Only a handful of EVs in India seat six or seven. See our 7-seater electric car guide.
A note on range: every number below is the claimed figure. Real-world range in Indian conditions is usually 20–30% lower. A 500 km claimed car realistically does 350–400 km. Plan around that.
