Every range figure on this page is Tata’s claimed or certified number, published as claimed. Expect roughly 72–80% of it in ordinary Indian conditions, and the lower end at highway speed with the air conditioning running — the working behind that band is set out in how we estimate real-world range, and the table below shows both figures so you can plan around the realistic one.

Which Tata EV should you buy?

Across the Tata range the answer turns on one number, and it is not the one most buyers start with: how far you drive on a typical day, not the longest trip you take in a year.

If your day is under 40 km and you can charge at home, the Tata Tiago EV at ₹7.99 lakh is the sensible entry to the range — a realistic 180–200 km means you plug in once or twice a week and stop thinking about it. Paying for more range than that buys weight and price you will not use.

If you drive intercity often, the Tata Sierra EV is the one to look at — a claimed 665 km works out near 505 km in ordinary conditions, which is the difference between planning a trip and simply making it.

And if your weeks involve regular highway running, the Tata Harrier EV is worth the look for its claimed 25-minute DC charge: that figure repeats on every trip, which is why it matters more than range once you are past about 300 km.

Whichever you lean towards, settle the charging question before the car question: whether you can put a charge point where you park changes Tata ownership more than any specification in the table above.

A broad line-up. With 8 electric models on sale, Tata gives you room to trade range against price inside one brand — which also means one service relationship and one app to live with. Match the variant carefully: within a single model the gap between the entry trim and the long-range trim is often several lakh.

Cheapest way in is the Tata Tiago EV at ₹7.99 lakh ex-showroom. Longest claimed range is the Tata Sierra EV at 665 km, which works out to roughly 505 km in ordinary conditions once the 72–80% realistic band is applied. Lowest running cost in the line-up is the Tata Tigor EV at about ₹0.96 per kilometre at ₹8 a unit.

What the table cannot tell you. Three things decide whether Tata suits you and none of them is a specification: whether there is a service centre near you that handles EVs specifically, whether the battery warranty transfers to a second owner, and whether you can install a charge point where you park. Check all three before you shortlist a Tata on numbers alone.
