Every range figure on this page is BMW’s claimed or certified number, published as claimed. Expect roughly 72–80% of it in ordinary Indian conditions, and the lower end at highway speed with the air conditioning running — the working behind that band is set out in how we estimate real-world range, and the table below shows both figures so you can plan around the realistic one.

Which BMW EV should you buy?

Across the BMW range the answer turns on one number, and it is not the one most buyers start with: how far you drive on a typical day, not the longest trip you take in a year.

If your day is under 40 km and you can charge at home, the BMW iX1 at ₹49.90 lakh is the sensible entry to the range — a realistic 382–425 km means you plug in once or twice a week and stop thinking about it. Paying for more range than that buys weight and price you will not use.

If you drive intercity often, the BMW iX is the one to look at — a claimed 635 km works out near 483 km in ordinary conditions, which is the difference between planning a trip and simply making it.

For regular highway running, note that the BMW iX1 claims about 29 minutes on a DC fast charger — a number that repeats on every trip and matters more than range once you are past about 300 km.

Whichever you lean towards, settle the charging question before the car question: whether you can put a charge point where you park changes BMW ownership more than any specification in the table above.
